Jane FitzGerald was first called to the bar in 2009 and took silk in 2025.

She has a commercial practice which encompasses contract, corporate, property, medical negligence, personal injury, judicial review, insurance and building and construction disputes. Her practice extends to the family law matters involving commercial issues. She appears in both state and federal jurisdictions. She is also a nationally accredited mediator and family law arbitrator.

Jane has acted for statutory and private sector clients in disputes involving:

• the regulation of health professions;

• construction of infrastructure and major resource projects;

• solicitors conduct;

• grain trading;

• personal injuries arising from motor vehicle accidents and otherwise;

• professional negligence including the legal, accounting, financial advisory, architectural and medical professions;

• directorships and partnerships;

• constructive trusts; and

• families and estates.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Jane was admitted as a solicitor for 10 years practising in litigation with firms including Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills), Minter Ellison and Dunhill Madden Butler (now Norton Rose Fulbright).

Jane also teaches and provides advocacy and communication consulting services in Australia and internationally. In Australia, she teaches and provides advocacy consulting services to the Bar Association of Queensland - Bar Practice Course, the Australian Advocacy Institute, the College of Law and to firms, groups and individuals offering communications advice and workshops. In the US, she provides advocacy training as part of the Building Trial Skills program offered by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA) in San Francisco and San Diego. She completed her teacher training in 2009, and achieved her Advocate and Master Advocate Designations from NITA in 2011.
